(KYONTE.COM) Entertainer of the year (DMV Awards). I met with Kyontѐ after he came off the stage at the Budweiser Superfest. He was singing back up for, who else, Raheem DeVauhn. Kyontѐ co-wrote, "Woman" the Grammy nominated hit for Raheem DeVaughn; that song may be his most renowned work. However, he is Grammy bound, writing songs for Grammy nominee Ledisi, and Stellar Award nominee Brent Jones, to name a few. Kyontѐ’s music is vastly becoming known, and he’s on his way to becoming a national icon of American music. He has traveled and performed abroad, Copenhagen, Switzerland, London, Amsterdam, Germany, the list goes on. I also heard that they love him in Japan. Kyontѐ is internationally known and adored by many. Anyway, Kyonte and I sat down in the hotel @ Shula’s for a late night bite, and too talk about this formidable buzz he has going (831 "What’s That Sound?). Sitting in the back and we were the last ones to be served, we started chopping it up. Kyonte was so laid back and permanently down to earth, I almost forgot that I was talking to an artist.
I learned that 831 came from eight letters, three words and one meaning, "I Love You." This pristine package of love allows the listener to invade, quietly peeking inside the mind and world of Kyontѐ. He mentioned that love is very ambiguous, and how he tried to capture various aspects of love to portray in 831. The more we talked, the more convinced that I had become that he was truly, "The next big thing." I think I struggled more trying to comprehend his mushroomed, bubbly type personality against the mesmerizing vocal talent and personification behind 831. It was like having a conversation with the, "KING OF POP" as if he was a man on the streets. It became so comfortable that I almost forgot it was an interview. Well, we finished our meal, and ended the night with a man hug and hand shake.
831, "What’s That Sound," one would think it took at least a year to finish the project; however, I was told that it only took 12 days to record, mix and master the entire CD. Kyontѐ told me about the 12 days of making 831, and he made it sound like he was at the carnival. The sound and songs of 831 took me like the overwhelming emotions of sinful pleasures. From one song to the next; banger after banger; hit after timeless hit; Kyontѐ’s music ranks up there with Neo, John Legend, Usher, Kem… You name them and Kyontѐ’s musical talents and CD has all the qualities of the greats.
His latest release (831 VOL 1: WHAT’S THAT SOUND?), given to the real music lover is a small a piece of R&B heaven . Go to kyonte.com (media) or youtube and you can watch the videos for What’s That Sound and Body Shop. Hey Baby is my personal favorite on the CD, but What’s That Sound; Do That Thing You Do; So In Love With You; Body Shop and Change all keep me pressing repeat. So In Love With You is a timeless hit. I can still hear that song being played and sung by other artist 50 years from now. You know it’s good when you won’t let the changer go to the next CD. Kyontѐ’s music is like a drug, once you’ve heard it, you’ll be hooked. Support the artist and garner your copy of 831; check him out live; and while you’re at it HARASS your local radio station and ask them to play Hey Baby (My favorite).
